Cry of the Mountain was originally Adelind’s senior thesis project (Div III) at Hampshire College. In the summer of 2009, she traveled around Appalachia gathering interviews focused on mountaintop removal coal mining, which later became verbatim monologues that she sculpted into Cry of the Mountain. Adelind started touring the show as soon as she graduated, performing it at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Capital Fringe Festival, the Blue Ridge Theatre Festival, Judson Church's Bailout Theatre, the United Solo Festival at Theatre Row and many other venues with many other theatre companies. She won "Best Documentary Solo Show" at the United Solo Awards at Theatre Row in 2012, and received rave reviews from The Washington Post, The Scotsman, NYTheatre.com, DC Theatre Scene, Three Weeks, and many more publications.
